THE LANGKISAU HILL

If you want a memorable paragliding experience, come to  Langkisau hill! 

Langkisau hill is located in the village of Painan, which is in the Province of West Sumatra.  Painan is approximately 88km from the city of Padang and is a relaxing two hour journey by car. 

The launch site at Langkisau hill is a grassy knoll, 250 meters above Sea Level with a takeoff direction that faces the lovely Indian Ocean.  The primary landing site is located at Salido Beach, directly below the takeoff site.  The landing site offers a large and soft target that can easily be reached, even by beginning students.  In addition to the lovely panoramic views, a key advantage of flying at Langkisau hill is that is possible to log up to 5, 6 or 7 flights a day.  With a short 20 minute ride from the beach you can be back on top of Langkisau preparing for your next flight.  Langkisau hill is perhaps the best location in Indonesia to practice repetitive takeoffs and landings!

When the winds are strong, you can be also be assured of excellent soaring opportunities.  Our pilots typically can remain aloft for 2 to 3 hours if the conditions are favorable for soaring.

Langkisau also offers an alternate takeoff location near the top of the hill that allows advanced Paragliders to fly over Painan and then land on a field in the middle of the city.   This route offers both a challenging takeoff and landing which should not be attempted by inexperienced pilots!

From the moment you arrive until the time you leave, you will be made to feel welcome as we extend every hospitality to our visiting pilots.  The Langkisau Paragliding Club is made up of dedicated paragliding pilots who will do their best to insure that your stay in Painan will be enjoyable.  Our goal is give you the very best paragliding experience!
